Paiute Reservation, Pipe Springs Monument,and Bryce Canyon.
Pictured below - Brittanni Wero and her son, Ben at the Pipe Spring National Monumentwhere they often present cultural dances that are being restored to their heritage. Brittanni spends a great deal of her personal time on the Paiute Indian Reservation teaching children their traditional language and arts. We had a wonderful day with the Wero family learning about their traditional art and dances. They also provided a fantastic Native taco lunch for us. Everyone that traveled with us was touched by their presentation and friendliness. We are hoping to continue to build our connection to them for future trips and possible art collaboration and multicultural exchanges. Brittanni referred us to the Paiute Pow-wow in Panguitch, UT that weekend. We were able to attend it and discovered a rich heritage of arts, crafts, and food. Several of us even danced a circle dance with the Native dancers! These personal connections enable us to not only see sights we'd never know about otherwise, but also help to bridge gaps between diverse peoples.
