“Your gifts are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:18-19
Beauty for Ashes is a ministry of restoration to women. Our goal is to achieve wholeness and empowerment so that, as women, we may attain our full and unique identity in God. Where there was despair and disappointment, Beauty for Ashes helps women connect to their hope and destiny.
Our purpose is aptly described: "...to provide for those who grieve in Zion - to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." (Isaiah 61:3)

Encouragement Through Small Groups
Ever since I can remember,I have been a part of a small group of women believers. These groups have meant many different things for me from learning to pray and understand the Bible, to working together on a project that benefits our church or community, to just plain friendship. I can't imagine how I would have fared as a young mom without an evening out with the "girls" to just unwind. Yet in today's world where we are so connected through the internet, I often hear people say how isolated they feel. Face book just doesn't replace companionship!
Making space in our lives for friendship and fellowship does not have to be complicated. Just picking an evening once a month to have dinner with some friends can be all that it takes - and what great rewards it can provide! Perhaps the Lord is prompting you to start or join a small group? Here are three groups that might inspire you!
Robin Nairhos meets twice a month with women from her work. Robin is a nurse in the oncology department of a busy hospital in Pottstown, PA. Robin invited her co-workers to watch the film, As We Forgive, by Laura Waters Hinson. They all grew together as they discuss the importance of forgiveness and helped each other with it. I had the pleasure of meeting with them last month. They've decided to keep meeting as they see that God has brought them together to encourage each other.
Carolyn Moody wants her friends who do not attend a regular church fellowship to have the chance to grow spiritually, so she asked me to meet with them! We talk about spiritual things and we read books together and discuss them. It is simple. It is easy. And its encouraging to everyone who comes. Carolyn is a teacher in Peoria, AZ, and she wants to share her faith with her friends.
Ginny Jackson has been hosting monthly brunches in her home for a couple years now. Ginny lives in Boyertown, PA with her daughter and grandchildren. She has a busy life and yet, she invites ladies to lunch just to encourage them. They meet new friends. They talk about their lives. And they leave saying how lovely it was and most importantly, that they were encouraged by being with other women. Ginny also hosts a regular spiritual growth and support group for women. They are committed to deepening their communion with God and building supportive relationships with each other.
Why not think about starting a group in your area? We can help you with ideas for it if you'd like. Encouraging women is important to us!
